| Description | TECHNICAL THEATRE INSTRUCTOR/DESIGNER POSITION – 2010/2011 SCHOOL YEAR STATUS: UNTIL FILLED POSTING DATE: 06/2/10 REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Secondary Theatre - Grades 9-12 LOCATION: Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Visual and Performing Arts POSITION: Technical Theatre Instructor Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Visual and Performing Arts, seeks a dynamic, experienced and creative Technical Theatre Instructor/Designer to assist the school’s nationally recognized theatre program. Position responsibilities include teaching Technical Theatre and Design classes for grades 9 through 12, Design and build scenic and lighting elements for Academy Theatre and Dance productions. Costuming background a plus, but not required. The successful candidate will be a student-centered, team oriented individual whose philosophy of educational theatre recognizes and promotes the value of process guided outcomes. The successful candidate will be prepared to work in close collaboration with theatre faculty, directors, music director(s), choreographers, theatre managers and para-professionals. The successful candidate will have an expressed commitment to and advocacy for arts education. Position Requirements: Minimum, a BA in Theatre, preferred MA or MFA with a design or technical production focus, or commensurate professional experience, 2 to 4 years experience with designing productions preferred.
